The beautiful Puritan church, built in the late Baroque-braided style, with its simplicity and unusual features, hosts special exhibitions and at the same time a lively cultural center. On the lower level of the church square, modern multimedia devices help to arrive, stimulate thought, and create a connection between past and present. While keeping the original sacred function of the church square, it is also used for religious services and weddings from time to time, and functions as a community space.

“Home in Eternity” – permanent exhibition

Taking advantage of the specific architectural features, the main attraction in the Old Church is actually a “visual preaching”. Taking into account the available material heritage, it focuses on the history of piety. Reformed piety is embodied in Christian holidays. Therefore, the exhibition does not follow the historical-chronological presentation of the past of the Transdanubian Reformation, but the biblical news about the life of Jesus Christ, on which the Christian Reformed holidays are also based. Breaking with traditional exhibition concepts, the format usually aimed at adults, the exhibition’s content is presented on three levels. The exhibition wants to appeal to practically all age groups, from young children to the elderly, from those with general education to those with a deeper theological interest.

“Secrets of Hori” – permanent exhibition

The main attraction of the Egyptian exhibition is the more than 3,000-year-old ancient Egyptian coffin and the mummy lying inside it made hundreds of years later. The installation of the exhibition was entirely done taking into account the previous experiences in museum education, so in effective cooperation with the curator and the designers, a meaningful, diverse exhibition concept that can be used very well from a pedagogical point of view was created. For the original ancient Egyptian artefact, we borrowed additional ancient finds from the Museum of Fine Arts, which makes it possible for different age groups to process the exhibition thematically, making it artefact-centric.

By connecting the church square and the former parish building, reception rooms, a coffee house, and water blocks await visitors on the ground floor, while on the upper floor there is a gallery and spaces suitable for presenting temporary exhibitions. In the building in the courtyard, a creative workshop and a craftsman await the school groups that come to us. The museum experience gained with us becomes even more intense and permanent during the creative activities that are closely related to the exhibitions.
